| Got a sub that the tinsel lead is broke right in the middle. I can get to it to repair it, and have actual tinsel wire to use. I was planning on soldering these together-is there anything special that I need to do before soldering a splice in there? There is not enough room to tie one end together, it is about 1/4" from the coil, so solder will have to do, unless there is something that will hold up better. Also, will this hold up for 3-4 runs? THis is all that it will need to hold together for before the speaker is reconed completely. Thanks for the help. | |

| I was just able to strip back the tinsel and get to some of the stiffer wire for the coil, so I should be able to twist the new lead around it. I will have some extra lead on it so it won't stress it, just hoping that it isn't too much slack and have it bang around in there and break. Time will tell. Thanks | |

| If its just a 1/4 from the coil there should be much of a proble cause it wont move there as much as it would if it was in the middle. GL tho | |

| If you can get crimpers in there. I usually trim the plastic ends of a butt connector and butt connect a longer tinsel lead. | |

| This repair will fail I promise. Pop the dust cap. Get some plyers and squeeze the CA covered solder joint to get to it. Get it hot and slide the old lead out. Solder in a new lead and use some flux. I do these alot as the PSI/DC/IA leads all do this.... you'll get another 2-3months of daily play if you do it right. If you can't swing this. At least pop the cap and pull the busted lead inside the cone and connect it there and run it out. And besure to glue it all up under the cap. If the repair is outside the cone it will break again 100% no doubt. | |

| I will see what I can do-this sub has no center dust cap, so I will have to take the surround off, which is not to terribly tough on this one. I'll give it a shot and see what happens Thanks for all the help on this-would have done this twice over already if not for everyones help. | |
