| I'm just getting started in SQ and I currently have an alpine deck without a CD slot. Instead it runs the ipod from the back of the deck. Would this still be ok or do I need a deck with a cd slot for competition. | |

| Good idea, since the sq disc seems to be getting harder and harder to come by. Is there a specified format or bitrate? My headunit won't do lossless through the usb. Only AAC, MP3, or WMA up to 320 kbps.

| just to say....once you get real serious in sq, you'll want a CD head for quality. | |

Agreed. I mainly use the usb for the convenience of not having to carry a lot of cds in the car. I usually only notice the difference on lower bitrates (128kbps and lower).

If you cant run lossless then dont even think about it IMO. You will hear the compression difference in a highly tuned SQ car.
