| Hey everyone
I have a friend who wants to get into SPL. My experience lies mostly in SQ, last SPL I dove into has bee 5 years ago.
From what he's wanting, looks like stock, or mod, depending on how far he goes on his setup. He has a hatch, could run 4 10's or 4 12's. Could do 2 15's. He might do a wall and go more. He wants to put up some big numbers-wants 155 or better. I'm just not sure on some of the better amps and subs nowadays.
What would be a good spl sub/amp. I've seen a lot on here on RD, DD, subs Seen a lot of good feedback on cactus amps. Any input on this is appreciated. I don't want him to get taken at a store on weak equipment.

| RD D5's are the best amps for amps for any class he wants. There 500@4 so. You can them in mod or stock. The RD HW's are also the winningest subs as well. What car is he using? I could recommend what size and setup would work. | |

| He has 2 vehicles he is looking at.
He has a car just about like mine, it is a 1993 Eagle Talon. The hatch area is small, measures 34" across, and @ 30 deep.
Taking the rear seats out and stripping the car down to make the system fit is not a problem. He bought the car just for that reason.

| Hmmmmmmmm those can get the number you are wanting no problem...
And Subs even kicker cvr 10s and cvx are nice for what you are wanting
And as Far as of late RD is the way to go on sub if your gonna run alot of power but will be pricey compared to some others just go right on the amp and yes D5 or CS amps fo sho for your power...
Now on to the other statements of winning subs HEHE
Ryan would be correct it actually started in 07 but only a couple of us using them them 08 Dallas finals was the year RD started ruling on subs in the lanes....
to answer the EVER for winning subs hands down without a freaking doubt. KICKER.. Them boys used to do it big and owned all classes cept mod and even had a couple mod winners over the years but yes in ever kicker in last 3 and 1/2 years RD. And this would be in Usaci only cause i believe DD is ruling the others if not mistaken

| Thanks man, appreciate all the help. Now the all important question. Where to get the equip. We live in BFE Nebraska-I have no line on any RD equip in the area. Not sure where the nearest dealer is. We are 4hrs from Licoln NE, and 5 from Denver.
We have kicker dealer within several hours, so we have a line on them, just not RD or DD

| I would love to see another trunk car in the lanes! The g6 is a good car to build. You can get 55's with some effort. The talon would be cool to see in mod ..but not likely to be a top 3 finisher but 55's with little effort. | |

| This may be a really dumb question, but I gotta ask.
What is the best direction for subs/ports in a talon. In the past, sub rear, port up seemed to be the best. I have done port and sub facing rear on setups with 15's, and seemed to work o.k.
Does it make a difference on if it is 10's, 12's or 15's.
Thanks for all the help guys.

| 4 - 12s or 2-15s. Subs up, port forward. Mount the amp or amps to the back of the seat. When the seat folds down it reveals the port. Might use the spare tire well for another cubic foot or two. | |

| he is not too concerned with staying stock, but I'm trying to keep him there. afraid if he goes mod, he will not have enough $$$'s to finish it right.
picked up 3 sheets of mdf today. will use my equip to test till he gets what he needs.
will try subs forward, port back first, then change to sub up port forward with 1 15" and 2 orion 2500's.
hopefully have results thurday after work.
thanks for all the help on this-gives us a good starting point.

| you got that righ- I see a lot of upset neighbors in block the next few weeks good thing I got a fridge full of Bud light, might smooth things out!
one problem is, i don't have a TL. The shop in town as an audio control, but is inconsistent at best. Where would I look to find a TL, or at least an old audio control. Just need something that I can use to compare setups.
