SQ Judges for Heat Wave in Austin needed

Please let me know if you would be interested in judging SQ at Heat Wave in Austin this year,
I need 2 or 3 judges.

Dates are July 23-24, 2011. Pay, Room and 1 meal a day is provided.

I sent a list of certified judges to Senor' Ralph last summer after the SQ training we had here. Contact him and he should be able to hook you up. I have 12 cars going to that event, and really, really, really, do not want any part of it. Good luck!!!!!

What ever happen to the guy that sit with me while judging in Tyler last year. He was a quick learner and wanted to be a judge .I think John Sketoe ,knows him .

Ditto... was going to say it anyway buy John beat me to it. BTW, same thing goes for FINALS. I realize that it is a lot of work to organize such an event (THAT's WHY YOU NEED HELP) but STOP relying on what few people actually get on this forum to respond and volunteer to judge. It ain't gonna happen and its UNRELIABLE.

The sooner that the organization as a whole puts MORE priority into this and other huge events, the better off for all that are to participate in it will be. Lack of planning, relying on volunteers, and putting things off until the week of the show will result in EXACTLY what you had last year (or worse). I am not being down on USACi on anyone involved but damn. Jenissa, I'm sure you are doing whatever you think should be done and I thank you for that BUT somebody, somewhere needs to get with the program. It does NOT take that much organization to run an SPL event at any venue but an SQ event is entirely different. YOU HAVE GOT TO HAVE JUDGING STAFF (preferably QUALIFIED, too) OR YOU WILL NOT HAVE A GOOD SHOW. PERIOD. And by staff, I mean more than two people. There is no way to judge 30+ SQ cars with two judges in a timely, fair, consistent manner. I would more than volunteer to help but I will once again have cars there competing and I will be competing also. I do NOT want any controversy or anyone to feel any kind of bias or unfairness, so best thing is for ANYONE competing at the show, be it their own car or one of their "builds", IT IS BEST IF THAT PERSON DOES NOT JUDGE ANY CLASS. No way to eliminate all the "bias" be it fair or not.

I would suggest (and I am not USACi, either) so this is my opinion, start looking up and CALLING or personally EMAILING past/former judges and seeing who can and WILL be willing to participate (ESPECIALLY WORLD FINALS) so that you get an idea within say the next 90 days (at latest) as to what the situation is actually going to be and who for sure is going to actually show up and judge. The other orgs have no problem providing judges for their SQ shows so I see why there should be no problem for USACi to either. IT IS TIME FOR SQ TO BE MADE MORE OF A PRIORITY AT AN EVENT OR DO AWAY WITH IT TOTALLY AND FOCUS ON SPL (which is far easier for everybody--- if you do stuff like that)....THERE ARE STILL OTHER ORGS LEFT THAT PROMOTE SQ. Make something happen and don't rely on us competitors (that are the reason for the SQ portion in the first place) to volunteer and make less headache for all the management.

I agree to but it is 3 1/2 months before the show date and I just wanted to put it out there that we are looking for SQ judges at this time. I know some of you all like to go to the shows and may or may not want to compete and was thinking if that was the case here and you are qualified, then I would ask.

As far as Finals goes that is Tim's position for finding judges for that venue. I have what I think is a great judge that goes, when he can, to judge my SQ shows. You all know him by Ruperto

I do understand what your saying although I still feel that putting it on the forum is a great idea for what I mentioned above. As far as competing and judging, I feel that is a conflict and do not think it would be fair to all involved to judge even if you do not judge your own class.

Oh and FYI this is my FIRST YEAR working with HEAT WAVE so please do not judge what happened in the past with Heat Wave Shows.

The forum is a good start , why because at least someone is asking to see who helps.
At least involves the most active and interested comperitors and gives answers or leads , hopefully Jennissa , can help organize some of this shows at least she us trying to do something .

We need to get this handled now!

I am NOT going to do it this year. I may want to come to the show...and maybe even compete. I know that my wife would get a kick out of it. Besides, that sun was a BEAR on me last year. Sweat and fat does not go together! Couple that with clothes that soak it up...and well, you get the idea.

Seriously though, I plan on competing at that show, so most likely I won't be the lone judge this year.

So Chris, chalk up one more competitor in your group! And this time I am staying at the same hotel as you guys!

As it is I have NO SHOW that date. I "WILL" BE DOWN TO JUDGE UNLESS SOMETHING CHANGES..... So now everyone can stop worring. This will be my 2nd SQ Show that I have judged

I also feel you guys should start working this now. I bet no one has told Tim its his responsibility to find his SQ judges. Tim has a full time job that keeps him pretty darn busy and his plate is full designing his new moat for his castle. lol
So, we have 5+ months...I'm sure one of us will bump this thread in July to see how it is going. I know more than a few Teams that are already talking about finals...so let's get on it!

I will get with Tim and see what needs to be done and discuss finals for 2011. If he is too busy to help he has not told me about it yet so I assume he is still on board.

Oh yeah...he totally talked like he was on board...and if there is anything I can do to help with the logistics, let me know man. If it was scheduling and allocation of judging times that wouldn't be like me judging a class where someone would be concerned of me being biased...and it would just be some extra brain power to help from me. Actually, with my product affiliations and friends...I think I'll have something in common with like 75% of the floor. LOL

Rick Paul said he will judge SQ in Austin and is asking for the time off Monday. One down!
