| Does anybody know how to get 5000 watts out of these mmats 4000.1s? I read an old topic where sanman said "they" were getting around 5000 watts out of these. If thats true I stand to gain about 13k to 14k watts cuz i have 8 of them. We clamped them several times and always came up with the same results. The amp came out saying it did a true 4k watts at 1 ohm at 13.8 volts. So I ran them at .5 with about 1 ohm of imp rise and they always clamped at 3200 to 3300 at 1.5 ohm. As some of you know I have 16 kinetic 2400s and also 2 ohio generator alternators that supposed to be 250 amps each.
(3250 x 8 =26000) vs (5000 x 8 = 40000) I'd say at least a couple tenths of a db gain!
Anybody want to chime in? Jeff? Mark? Do I have anybody that really cares? | |

| I don't know anybody that runs them on 16v. If there like the 3500s they will handle about 15.6 v. In theory you could get that power out of them even with a little imp rise. But my s10 setup was and still is about 26k watts on 4 15" HWs. | |

| im sure theres a mod to make then run on 16v my cactuses dont run on 16v but can be modded to. thats still a ton of power!!!! and you actually lost wattage when dropping to .5 ohms? | |

| I would try to strap them down to. 25 and watch out for poof but I think the amps can do it with your bank. | |

| Mark,
You will not get 5k out of them and there is no mod for these amps to go to 18v. They will work up to about 16-16.2, but that is really irrealavent since stock is only 14.7.
What is your voltage drop?
In the Festiva we were able to get about 4400 watts out of them, but that was 16 dropping to only about 15.5.
You do stand to gain some power though if you get the right impedence, but I don't know of anything lower than about .5 ohm coils, perhaps you could do quad .7's. I don't know if anyone even could make that, but just a thought.
For those wondering more about these, this wont work in marks situation, he is set with 4 subs and would have to get more subs to lower the ohm load, but they will go below 1 ohm. I ran them before at .25 rising to .64, but they were really touchy then and I didnt even get as much power out of them as I could, it's just what I had to run them at with the subs I had. My voltage dropped into the 7's with 3 on 2 2400's and only got about 2200 pwer amp. Now get that rise to around .8-1 and you will get more power, the MMATS amps are one of the few amps that you really need to run close to where they are rated as you can. Not like other amps that you need to get down to say .5 ohm to get more power.
I think you could get up to about 30k total though if you can get your rise to no higher than 1 ohm. I know probably hard to do with only the 4 subs.
We've asked David several times for something strapable or just a plain bigger amp, but I guess due to the MMATs design they are not strapable, nor will they be making anything bigger. For those who haven't seen the inside of a MMATs amp, it's totally differant than other 3-4k amps out there, others are huge and weigh 20-30lbs, the MMAts are half the size, weigh like 12lbs, and when you look inside they look like they have about as much electronic stuff inside as you would expext to find in a pyle or profile amp, but trust me they are good quality and will do the power they say they will. |

| first thing is to start up your truck , you have not worked on it since finals last year , second you have two issues to be worked on , one is voltage , calling ohio gen and finding out how to get both alts to work together so you can get a steady imput. that will help the amps to work properly , power in/ power out . second you need to play with your port or box inside/outside to work on imp rise . as you have so wisely been telling people yourself test test test . you already have done very well in this sport , you have gone thru some tuff times personaly , but your future is looking brighter so just take it one day at a time. we have used matts for several years now and we both know what voltage they like , you just need to get them there . i see two choices for you . one stick with stock and see how loud you can get , or start over with amps and batts and move up to pro , you have already proven yourself in stock , but i also know what your goal is and you have not hit it yet , its a big one but i have been behind you so far and will continue . i just need to get thru the next couple of months .. | |
