| Nick stated that he can get some of the Grand BE's for the reference System. I myself don't have one, but I do have an acoustic band that is willing to record a few songs. Upright bass, two acoustic guitars, lead singer and drums. We are going to record at our church. I was going to use that to memorize the placement. As for my home, I don't have anything that is even close to reference, I may have to use the Kef's at Advantage Audio if they don't mind. _________________ Joe Wallis Team EMO

| LOL In making sure my sarcasm was not misread in my "own your own shop" post. I believe there should be specific training someone must go to in order to be CERTIFIED as a SQ Judge. Owning your own shop, building cars and going to a couple shows and "knowing some of the ropes" is not enough to define someone as a SQ Judge. Yes someone might have some good ears, and be able to hear a lot, blah blah blah I do not care, I want a CERTIFICATION stating that whosoever has taken the course knows what to look for. This prevents every tom, dick and harry who own some hole in the wall shop and have been to some shows and "greased" some elbows from hopping in my car and judging it. We need people that have been around for years, know every bit of the rulebook by heart, and have trained ears. If we do not have people of this level of experience getting in our cars to listen to it, what is the point of competing... Edit: I also think we need a blend of male and female judges. It has been proven that women can hear frequencies that men cannot. This is due to the gentics of males, we tend to lose our hearing faster then women do. They might catch something different then one of us sitting in a car and listening to it. The point I really want to make here is that it is completely pointless to have someone that is not trained sit in my car and listen to it. I dont care how many Focal and USACi and Classical and Jazz Cd's you have sat in your car and listened to. If you are not trained in SQ Judging there is NO point in sitting in a car.. Know why? Because you are NEVER gonna get any better if you have an unexperienced ear listen and tell you what to do. In fact. your overall sound quality might even get WORSE. Have a "judge" tell you your center image is jacked to right and you go to correct it and now its REALLY to the right. Not cool. I want opinions from experience telling me how to make my system better. Not noobs. (slang for newbies) That is my opinion. Thankyou. |
