| Hello all first off alot of you know that i compete in Street Beat 2 but i have come to a point were i am not satisfied with my system!! Not that its not loud enough but that i drive my truck daily and cannot listen to all the diffrent type's of music i like on my system because it's to boomy. I love spl. But spl is not good when im trying to listen to Fleetwood Mac and i cant hear the 6 1/2 midrange's because my sub's overwhelm every thing even if i turn them down it's still boomy and there's no KICK DRUM sound! So i have decided to compete in Sq next year my car club dont have an SQ intry so i have decided to do it!!!!  I own a 1997 Nissan ext.cab pick up and i was wondering if you guy's could give me some pointer's on set up, equipment, and stageing???? I was thinking of keeping my 6 1/2 component's up front and adding a 8inch midrange and just 1 either 12 or 15 inch sub ported and tuned really low. What do yall think about this? Please any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!!I want to be able to listen to all my music from Rap,to Classical and it all sound good and kinda loud just not as loud and what i got now!!!!

| I would like to thank all who posted on my ?!!!!!!! I really need help in doing this!!!!!!!!This is alot diffrent than the SPL setup that i run now. I dont know anything about stageing or how to setup or anything.I was hopeing to get some help or advice about anything related to SQ so that i could compete next year but i guess ill just have to do all the research on my own and just see what i come up with!!!!!!  I would like to say that I will do my best and hope that this turns out okay! But any help that yall can give would be helpfull!!!!  But if yall choose not to help or dont want to help that's okay 2 I will just see you in the lanes!!!!!!!!!!

| We all need help bro! Where do you live? Are you serious about trying to build an SQ vehicle? Are you SURE this is what you want to do, or do you just want to hear more music in your SPL setup?

I live in Hook's Texas just a little way's away from Texarkana Texas ill be at the show there the 15 of september.Yes im sure this is what i want! The problem that i have is with my street beat set up i can only listen to Bass Mekanik or CD's that have alot of bass to them but when i want to listen to Metallica or Coldplay or Sinatra i dont want it all boomy and if i turn the sub's down then i loose what midbass i did have my 6 1/2's do okay but they cant keep up with the power i have on my subs!!!!!! I love to compete in USACI but im also not a kid anymore and desire more from my music than just loud bass but i know that if i do it right with SQ that i can have it to where not only do i have bass but i also have alot of other thing's in music that i like you know like VOCALS!!!!!!  But seriously I want to be able to listen to all my music and i still want to compete and this give's me the chance to do that!!!!!!So all youre help will be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

| | Ok the first thing I would do is to put the sub in a sealed box that is built for that sub only. Next would be to turn the gains down on the amps so that you lessen the chance of noise from the amps. If you are have component speakers in the front, where do you have the tweeters? SQ is more about placement for the staging. |

| I have the component set in the doors and i will be getting a new sub and amp's and midbass's for sure! The set up that i am thinking about is the JBL GTI 15 tuned really low like 19hertz or lower then useing a set of JBL 8's for my midbass. As for amp's i will have about 300watt's on the component's and 300 on the midbass and about 800watt's on the 15. The sub will be in like a 2.5 or 3.0cubic foot box.What do yall think of this setup for SQ????????Thankyou Josh.

The only place i have room for the 8's is in the door behind the driver kinda low in the corner. Not sure about this though i have alot of planing to do!!!!! The sub will be in a ported enclosure and as far as prossing the signal i will have an eq and a 7volt line driver that i already have dont know what else i thought about a 30 band eq but really dont want to load the truck down like i have it now i kinda want to keep it to a minimum.Yea Kasey i am seriously thinking of switching the truck over cause i have done all i can to it and i just dont have the space for a nice sb set up and still be competitive at world final's!!!! Plus i drive it everyday and I would like to have the best of both world's! But if i ever get a suv or a car i would like to to sb again cause i could have room to put everything in there and not have to worry about breaking another amp or driveing with my chest on the steering wheel!!!!

| just like spl - sq will take alot of research and commitment.
everyone will spit out what they have read befor or have built and it work in that vehicle. as you know from spl - every vehicle is different.
my recommendation is to make yourself happy with the sound quality and don't stop trying different things untill you are content.
personally what i would do is alot of work and then you would not get any bass(or at least anything close to what you are used to)

| | I would like to see a poll on SQ subs, ported or non ported. I use 2 GTI 12 inch subs sealed and can still hit a 142 but for sq, sealed is my way of thinking. Thats just me though. 8's behind the driver could move the staging back depending on the gain. |
