it started when i was young my three older brothers were in a band and i would hang out as they practice in a shed on our parents farm. i didn't hang out becuase my brothers were there but mainly because there was always a few girls there watching them. so i would talk to them. over the years i tried to play many instruments but with no avail. then when i was about 14 i started looking towards driving. i began fixing up my brothers old customized van. shag and furr baby. collecting all the stereo equipment i could scrounge up (three older brothers) i hooked up dual power eq's and like 10 speakers. needless to say one of my brothers no longer had working eq's. i was always wanting more sound. louder-better.
through many years i built many systems just as 16-21yr olds do today.
WRONG. but i loved it
each time i got better and my system got better. until my (expert) abilities enabled me to begin my own car audio business. having the best system around i was ready to compete. so i went to my first stereo show. now my 88 mustang gt was pimped out but my eyes were opened wide to a whole new world. AUTOSOUND COMPETITIONS. needless to say i didn't take a trophy home with me that day, but the defeat did not sway me.

I work all the time. car audio business is on the decline because of this wonderful thing we are using right now. i could have giving up many times but one thing always holds me on. I LOVE WHAT WE DO. no not dealing with the people on a day to day, but the artwork we build into cars, the enjoyment of beautifull music that you hear for the first time each time you build a better system, the thrill and nervesness of competing, the utter bliss of victory, and the agony of defeat.

so whats this all about. hopefully you have a story that is similar to mine because we can no longer sit by and act like nothing is wrong. if you are a true cometitor then we must band together to keep our sport alive.
have you been to a show were you are the only one there. of course you have.

so whats the cure?

1. there must be car audio stores or there will be no regular shows.

2. should people who purchase their equipment online be in the pro division

3. as with all things that are popular how do we make this sport fun again.

i sent the administration an email years ago outlining the problems with this industry with not even a reply so it is up to us ( dealers - installers - competitors ) to make a change.

yes it is something each of us can do sq and spl alike.
if we set back and do nothing thats what we will have.
this discussion is to brainstorm on things we can do together that will make a difference not just a "Female dog" session.
everyone please give your thoughts.

I am curious to see what others come up with. I have talked to some of the shops around me and none of them really want to hold shows becasue of the lack of support from USAC is what I was told. There are a few shows around me but you all know they are SPL show very few sq shows and unfortunitly I can not travel like I use to. I think we need to have a sit dow with the powers that be and hash things out. No forum blast or email rants but a meeting. I know everyone will say that we can not all travel to the meeting, but we could elect someone or ones to represent us all. I would hate to see this sport die. Just my thought.

i think a meeting would be great but like you say not everyone could drive so finals would be an oppertune time although most people have their schedules full.

maybe if we lined out things we would like to see happen so we had a plan.

being a retailer i can tell you the reason most stores are not having shows is the internet. a show is a marketing tool for a dealer. if they promote the show and then the potential customers don't buy from them then the show was a bust.

we need shows but more than anything we need fresh blood. we need more people competing so the shows are fun again. i think we should try to recruite people we meet or know. ?
