Current Rules wrote:

Any and all amplifiers within the vehicle under test will be included in the system’s total
This sum will not include the power, if any, of the systems source unit (radio, cassette tape
player) unless it is actively driving a speaker or a group of speakers. All amplifiers in vehicle
must be operational and actively used in operating the sound system during testing or be
physically removed. At local events amplifiers may be left in the vehicle provided the event director has the ability to definitively determine the amplifier is not in use.

I think this should be rephrased..

Outlaw SPL - Any and all amplifiers being used to drive subwoofer systems under test will be included in the systems total power. Amplifiers being used to drive mid/high range speakers (IE 6x9, 5x7, 4x6, 5 1/4", 6 1/2", tweeters, etc...) will be excluded. The source unit power rating will also be excluded provided it is not directly driving a subwoofer. If a USACi judge is unable to determine whether an amp is being used to power subwoofers or mid range speakers, the amp will be removed from the vehicle or added to the systems total power.

Hmmm.... well is an 8" driver considered a subwoofer or mid/high speaker? Easy solution would be to add something to the end of the terms like:

"The head judge of the show in which the system is being tested has the authority to place any speaker into the 'subwoofer' category, this decision is final (example, a car utilizes an 8" driver which is contested as being a subwoofer, the head judge has discretion to call that speaker a subwoofer or a midrange driver.)"

Although some companies do make 8" midbass drivers.

I've seen it here in the Norteast also. Keep in mind that these guys are relatively new but they mean well.
