PostSubject: Hair Trick Help   Mon Jun 02, 2008 6:32 pm

I just have a few questions about box designs. I have a 9512g, batcap 400, 0 gauge, 300 amp fuses, and Orion 2500d.

1. I want to make a box that is about 4 cubes total, 80sq in port about 36in long. Does this sound good or should I teak it some?

2. How does the "hair trick" work? Is it just from having more than 2 or 3 subs or is it a specific tone or something else?

3. Is there a way to make a port have greater air movement or car movement? Does how square the port is make a difference?

4. what do you guys suggest i tune my box to?

im gonna put the box in a 99 Toyota Solara, with the port facing in. i mostly listen to rap and really heavy metal (kind of opposites i know). I still want to be able to do the hair trick but no big deal if i cant.

also a little off topic but how can I tell how many watts rms I am using? How much during normal playing or burps or what ever?

Hair Tricks........lot of pressure

I wouldnt go so big with that box at all, maybe half that

Tune around 35 - 38ish.....or a lil lower, but you listen to rock so 38hz would be a good blend, just my opinion

Lot of general/silly questions in here though

Maybe someone else has had better luck but i could never get too much hairtricks outta one sub

Maybe a 18, but not so much a 12...i was doing 148s with my single Audioque 12 at 45hz and still no hairtrick really

Depends on vehicle and freq used and how your vehicle likes doors or windows open.

I could make a shirt dance in the van, with passenger window down and drivers door open. I close driver door and it moved alot less.

If your vehicle likes 45hz, then that would be a good freq to do one at. Also takes power, unless you have a wall behind the b-pillar. There is also the rule of cone area to space, but sometimes that isn't actually accurate.

ive seen someone do a fairly good hair trick with only one dd9512g and 2000wrms. idk what his box was tuned to or what tone he was playing. from what i understand its just a really lound tone under 35 or so.

but back to my box. what size?

I'm not sure about the 1 and 2 subs, but I can tell you it's pretty easy with 16 12's

And it does a number on my back windows too.
